Three teenagers jailed after Mikey Roynon murder

A teenager has been jailed for life for stabbing a 16 year old boy with what was described as a “zombie knife” at a birthday party.

The victim, Mikey Roynon, was attending a friend’s party in Bath, Somerset, on the 10th June 2023. Three people who were not known to Mikey also attended the party and had travelled from the Bristol area.

These were Shane Cunningham, Leo Knight, and Cartel Bushnell, all 16 years old. Following the convictions, all three had their right to anonymity lifted by a judge at Bristol Crown Court.

Mikey, of Kingswood, Gloucestershire, was fatally stabbed in the neck by Shane Cunningham, leaving him bleeding heavily. Mikey then collapsed outside the property on Eastfield Avenue in the Weston area of Bath.

Emergency services attended but were unable to save Mikey. The three defendants then left the area and disposed of their weapons.

Sentencing took place on Friday 3rd May and the defendants received the following sentences:

Shane Cunningham
Murder
Life with minimum of 16 years

Leo Knight
Manslaughter
9 years, 6 months

Cartell Bushnell
Manslaughter
9 years
