Liverpool cinema shooter to be sentenced in June

A man behind multiple firearm incidents in Liverpool is set to be sentenced after pleading guilty to all charges against him. The drama unfolded on Wednesday 3rd January 2024 at around 8:50pm, in Croxteth, Liverpool, when 49 year old Leslie Garrett entered the Showcase Cinema, threatened staff with a gun then fired his weapon outside the building before escaping the scene in a car.

50 minutes prior to this incident, Garrett fired a gun while carrying out an armed robbery at a newsagents on Lower House Lane, Norris Green. Later on in the same evening, shots were fired on Malpas Road at 10:20pm.

Leslie Garrett, 49, of Ternhall Road, Fazarkerly was charged with the following:

  • Possession of firearm with intent to endanger life
  • Attempted robbery
  • Possession of firearm with intent to cause fear of violence (x2)
  • Possession of ammunition without a certificate

Sentencing Date: Thursday 6th June 2024
