The trial of a 16 year old boy is set to start after several delays preventing proceedings from getting underway. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have stabbed 15 year old Holly Newton to death in Hexham, Northumberland, on Friday 27th January 2023 at around 5:10pm. Following the stabbing of Holly, another 16 year old boy was then stabbed, however his injuries were not life threatening.
Concerns were raised over whether the boy was fit to stand trial, leading to several months of delays. As these concerns have now been resolved the trial is now set to start at Newcastle Crown Court. The details are listed below:
