American singer Chris Brown remanded in custody for GBH

US singer Chris Brown has been remanded in custody following his arrest and appearance at court in Manchester, today (Fri, 16th May).

He will appear at Southwark Crown Court in London on 13th June.

Chris Brown was arrested at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw during an incident at Tape nightclub in London in February 2023.

The arrest occurred after Brown flew into Manchester Airport on a private jet, with Met Police detectives travelling to Manchester for the arrest.

The alleged attack involved Brown hitting Diaw over the head with a bottle and then punching and kicking him as he lay on the floor, resulting in Diaw needing hospital treatment.

The incident has led to a civil claim against Brown for $16 million (£12 million) in damages by Diaw for injuries and losses suffered.

Chris Brown’s arrest could potentially disrupt his Breezy Bowl XX Tour, which is set to celebrate his 20-year career with performances across Europe and the UK.

The tour is scheduled to include performances in Manchester, Cardiff, London, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Dublin, with R&B stars Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller joining him on different legs of the tour.

Brown’s tour announcement followed a successful 2024 concert series that supported his album “11:11,” which generated significant revenue from ticket sales.

The Met Police investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.

Chris Brown has been known for his high-profile associations with celebrities like Tommy Fury and Conor McGregor, often seen partying together.

Despite the legal issues, Brown expressed excitement about performing for fans and celebrating his career milestone through social media.
