Kieron Goodwin has today (April 24th) been found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Olivia Wood, on the night she planned to leave him after a three-month relationship marked by abuse.
Goodwin, of Frome, Somerset, was also convicted of 15 other offences against Olivia and three other women over five years, including rape and controlling behaviour.
The court heard that Goodwin pressured 29 year old Olivia into unwanted sexual activities and misused over £6,000 she gave him for bills on drugs.
On July 30, 2024, Goodwin called emergency services, reporting that Olivia was not breathing at his flat in Portway; she later died in the hospital.
A police investigation revealed Olivia had packed her belongings to leave, suggesting she intended to end the relationship.
Goodwin admitted to controlling behaviour but denied murder; he was found guilty after a trial at Bristol Crown Court.
Olivia’s family paid tribute to her as a selfless and cherished individual, expressing their profound loss.
The Crown Prosecution Service charged Goodwin with multiple offences against other victims, including rape and coercive behaviour.
Detective Superintendent Lorett Spierenburg described Goodwin as dangerous and praised the victims for their bravery in testifying.
Goodwin is due to be sentenced at a later date for his crimes against all four victims.
