Manslaughter charges after golf course death

Three men have been charged with manslaughter following the death of Suzanne Cherry, who was struck by a van at Aston Wood Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

Suzanne Cherry, 62, of Aldridge, died in the hospital last Tuesday, four days after the incident, which involved a police pursuit of a grey Nissan van.

Her husband witnessed the tragic event and described his wife as having an “amazing and infectious zest for life.”

The following are charged:

John McDonald, 51, of Bloxwich

Johnny McDonald, 22, of Dudley

Brett Delaney, 34, of Darlaston

All three are due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre today.

John McDonald faces additional charges of assault by beating and failing to stop a vehicle when directed by a constable.

Three other men were arrested in connection with the incident but have been bailed with conditions.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.

West Midlands Police continue to support Mrs. Cherry’s family through specialist officers.
