Man jailed after murder of pensioner in Hartlepool

An asylum seeker who stabbed a pensioner to death in a terrorist attack has been jailed for life.

Ahmed Alid, 45, originally from Morocco killed 70 year old Terence Carney in Hartlepool. He also attempted to murder his housemate, Javed Nouri.

Alid was motivated by the Gaza-Israel conflict and stated he would have killed more people if the police hadn’t caught him and prevented him from doing so.

At Teesside Crown Court today (17 May), Alid was sentenced to life in prison.

Sentence: Life in prison, minimum: 44 years
