18 year old jailed after attacking police dog in Hull

An 18 year old from Hull has been locked up after refusing to pay his taxi fare and then attacking a police dog and its handler.

Keane Pyzer, 18, of High Street, Hull, refused to pay his taxi fare after being dropped off at Amberley Close in the Bransholme area of the city on 4th April 2024. He then exited the house with a shovel and attacked the taxi cab.

Armed police attended the scene and forced entry into the property. The police dog was sent up the stairs, which he then attacked with the same shovel. He then attacked the police officer with the shovel, causing a loss of blood, and he eventually passed out.

Pyzer was charged with the following:

  • Criminal damage
  • Threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place
  • Actual bodily harm
  • Use of threatening behaviour to cause distress
  • Making off without making payment
  • Causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

Sentence: 35 months in prison
