Man jailed for assaulting and controlling ex-girlfriend

Chris Lambeth, from Lancashire, appeared before Preston Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 13 months in jail after pleading guilty to ABH, criminal damage, intentional strangulation, and coercive and controlling behaviour towards his ex-girlfriend.

Lambeth, who runs his own company, North West Helping Hands, subjected his ex-girlfriend to a year of controlling behaviour, including banning her from social media and isolating her from friends.

The abusive behaviour culminated in a violent incident where Lambeth, after a drink and drug fuelled binge, attempted to break into the victim’s home in Blackpool, leading to his arrest by police. This incident occurred just over a day after he had already been escorted from her home by police.

Lambeth was also given a five-year restraining order alongside his prison sentence.
