Man charged with murder following hit and run killing in Liverpool

A man named Stephen Bates has been charged with murder after Martin O’Donovan was hit by a car and killed in Woolton on Good Friday.

The incident occurred around 11:45pm on Stonyhurst Road, where emergency services found O’Donovan seriously injured.

O’Donovan, aged 46, was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

Bates, aged 41, was arrested at the scene and is from Herondale Road in Mossley Hill.

He has been remanded into custody and is set to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 22nd April.

A police cordon and forensic investigation were ongoing at the scene, with a large blue tent and a car positioned across the road.

Neighbours reported hearing shouting before the incident and mentioned a house party occurring that evening.
