Benjamin Frost, a 37-year-old from Roche, Cornwall, was jailed for continuing to make indecent images of children after being previously spared jail.
In 2020, Frost was found with nearly a million child abuse images and was given a community order and a chance at rehabilitation, however despite the opportunity for rehabilitation, Frost breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) four times.
He pleaded guilty to making indecent images and breaching the SHPO at Truro Crown Court.
The National Crime Agency alerted Devon and Cornwall Police in January about Frost uploading Category A indecent images of children.
Officers seized his mobile phone, which contained apps capable of storing images, one of which was encrypted. Frost then refused to provide his fingerprint to unlock the encrypted app on his phone.
His barrister argued that Frost now accepts he deserves punishment and that he would be appalled if the children in the images were his loved ones.
At Truro Crown Court, Judge Simon Carr sentenced Frost to 15 months in prison, stating that his entrenched sexual interest in children poses a real risk of future offending.
The judge concluded that Frost’s behaviour could not be managed within the community due to the failure of previous rehabilitation programs.
The court heard that Frost’s initial order was due to expire in October this year. Ramsay Quaife, defending, suggested that society would benefit more from Frost receiving help rather than imprisonment.
